Chapter Twelve" Cry of the Hunters (FINAL ENTRY)

Days After my Death Entry III:

I followed Ralph after his scene with Jack. He hid in a place where he could still be able to see Castle Rock. He looked up suddenly where two identical figures stood. It was Samneric. The next thing he did was quite stupid in my opinion. He went towards them. Closer to his pursuers! I followed. Samneric were talking to Ralph in hushed voices. They said that they were part of Jack's tribe now. After that things happened so fast I am not so sure what happened. The next thing I saw was Samneric look back and hurl a piece of meat at Ralph. They whispered some more. The twins said that it didn't really matter if they joined Jack's tribe because there isn't anymore sense on the Island, so might as well be senseless. I caught more of the conversation. They said that Roger had prepared a spear with two sides for Ralph. That could only mean one thing, they are going to offer Ralph up to the beast. Just like they did to the pig. All of a sudden Ralph rushes past me and runs down to a thicket. There he would be safe. If I didn't see him go into the thicket I wouldn't have guessed that he was in there. Then a storm of little half dressed boys ran down from Castle Rock towards that thicket. Jack was in the lead with Roger, and Samneric were following closely behind. Then the rush of boys slowed down as they got nearer to the thicket. Jack grabbed a hold of Sam and Roger got Eric. They twisted the wrists of the twins, and got them wincing in pain. They pointed to the thicket where Ralph lay somewhere deep within. They tried many things to try to push him out of the thicket. They tried to poke him out with their spears but Ralph attacked back. The boys started getting excited. Then they tried pushing the boulders onto the thicket. When that didn't work they set fire to the thicket. That one worked. Ralph dashed out of the bush and ran towards the forest injuring a painted savage in the making.

Soon after Ralph ran into the forest, the rest of the boys disappeared in after him. In a matter of minutes I watched as the whole island was set on fire for a second time. I ran to the beach. Far ahead I could make out Ralph and most of Jack's tribe running close after him. There was a looming dark figure that none of the boys could see. Jack came to a halt when he saw the Naval Officer. Slowly Ralph's pursuers stopped too. The only sound you could hear was of the waves and the fire that was roaring. The boys were as silent and still as they had been for a while. When the Naval Officer asks the names of the boys and Percival (for the first time ever!) forgot his name! the Officer wonders who is in charge. Ralph steps up and says that he is the chief. Jack looked as if he were about to say something but then thinks again and steps back. The way the boys behaved really surprised the Naval Officer, he said something about us being more civilized and that he was very disappointed in the way the boys had turned out

1-9

  1. Piggy tells Ralph that he wants the conch and that he, Piggy, wants to tell the Jack's boys that he needs his specs back, and why.
  2. Piggy tells Jack that he can't see and that they need to be rescued, because the only fire they have going is a small cooking fire and that they need to have a signal fire to be rescued.
  3. Ralph says that they will have to look descent and be washed and comb their hair. They have to look sophisticated.
  4. The person who challenges Ralph, Piggy, and Samneric is Roger, one of Jack's loyal savages.
  5. He had been hunting.
  6. Ralph calls Jack a thief (which he is) and that provokes a fight between Ralph and Jack who truculently forward towards each other but don't get into fighting distance.
  7. Samneric get tied up and captured by Jack's tribe.
  8. Roger, delirious, leans against the rock overhead piggy with all his might.
The people who are responsible for Piggy's death would be Jack and Roger. First of all if Jack never had stolen Piggy's glasses they would never had to go to Castle Rock. If Jack never started a frenzy with Ralph, Roger wouldn't have pushed the gigantic boulder off the ledge. If Roger actually used his head and thought of the consequences of his actions would be Piggy wouldn't be dead. Also if Piggy had his glasses maybe there would have been a slight chance of him living, because he might have seen what was coming.

Chapter Ten: The Shell and the Glasses

Days After my Death.

I can't quite remember my death. I was terrified to watch my own punctured body float out to sea, and for the first time I felt pity for myself. The next day I happened to come across Piggy and Ralph. They didn't see me. I forgot for a moment that I was dead. Then as I drifted out into my own thoughts something Ralph said caught my attention.
"Piggy."
"Uh?"
"That was Simon."
"You said that before."
"Piggy."
"Uh?"
"That was murder."

I was murdered! just thought was a bit queer. I needed to know more since I didn't remember what happened to me! Piggy started yelling. Said something about everything being an accident. Ha! how can a murder be an accident. I watched my old friends as they quarreled about the whole scene being an accident or a murder. I would say that I was murdered if I remembered. And Ralph said this.
" You were outside. Outside the circle. You never really came in. Didn't you see what we-what they did? Didn't you see Piggy?"
Soon a flood of memories and pain came back to me. The sounds. Blood everywhere. The faces of the painted savages. It was too much to bear so I drifted away to my special place.

I was still in shock about the fact I was dead and how I died. I still didn't know why I was killed though. I visited Jack's tribe. I wished that I could scare them like they say ghosts can, but I guess not. Those rascals deserve the scare of a life! Jack's tribe in my opinion was chaotic. They are all better off sticking with Ralph. They've all lost their minds! I've been thinking more clearly since I've been dead. I can see who really is the beast. The Lord of the Flies was right. You can't kill the beast. I learnt that the hard way. Then they say that I was the "beast" in disguise! Ha! If they only knew I probably wouldn't be dead now. Jack is a monster for sure. He tied up poor Wilfred. Why can't he be more just like Ralph.

That night I heard Jack, Maurice and Roger discuss something about taking Ralph's fire. I wanted to go tell Ralph, but remembered I couldn't. If only they knew what was coming for them. I followed as the Three savages as fast as I could. I thought ghosts didn't have the living disadvantages of a human but they do. I ran into about five trees! I go to the scene just in time to see Jack dive into the hut. All I could hear was screaming and kicking. Obviously there was some struggling. Then Jack Jumped out of the tent and ran down the beach as fast as he could. The heads of Ralph, Piggy and Samneric popped out of the tent and watched as Jack went away with the fire. Piggy's glasses. This was nonsense, savagery. Now they've all decided to become thieves too! What are the grownups going to think f them if they are ever found? I wish mum was here. Or even father he would have saved me and then I would be safe in their arms at home. What will mum say when she finds out I'm no longer alive?

Chapter 8/9

I think the most disturbing part in the book was the sacrificing of the pig.
Wild Boar

The savages, ( the Hunters), tried to do their dance on a sow but she ran away to a clearing where they found her. There blood was spilled/ It was a victory for the boys, not so much for the pig though. Their demonic behavior only worsened. They De-gutted the pig. Then they cut off the head and piked it and left the head just "standing" there.

The guts of the pig were left on the rock near where Jack De-gutted her. They left the head there for the gift for a darkness.
A thick cloud of flies hovered over the head of the Lord of the Flies.Dancing butterflies fluttered happily after, and during this blood bath. They left the pig's head there for the "beast". The hunters took the rest of the pig for a big feast for themselves.

I believe that every single one of the boys were responsible for the death of Simon, even the people who weren't exactly involved in the killing. First I think Simon is responsible for his own death, in a way, because if he had gone earlier like the Lord of the Flies told him to maybe what had happened would have occurred. I also think that Ralph and Piggy were responsible for his death too. Since they saw that it was Simon that was being killed, they could have done something to maybe delay the process, or even stop it. Jack and the boys are most definitely responsible for poor Simon's death. They all saw who they were killing but Jack had already roused them, and once they were in killing mode they couldn't be stopped.

Those are the people who are responsible for Simon's death. If power wasn't such a major conflict there would be less tension, less paranoia, and one less death. The beast definitely was not killed. It only grew stronger and more dangerous after the murder of Simon, because the beast was the bad side of human nature. Evil. Evil hung in the air of the Island as Simon's limp body drifted out to sea.

Shadows and tall Trees

Chpt.7: A New Feeling

  1. After Ralph hit the pig with is spear, Robert pretends to be the pig struggling as the other boys surround him in a circle, reenacting their first bravado hunt. The boys feel more excited then they were before.
  2. Impervious Jack suggest that they should substitute the pig for a littlun. This may foreshadow someone dying in the near, or far future.
  3. The boys were dun, filled with less adrenaline then they were before when they found "beast". The evidence was that not only did they see it but they saw it move too. There was a bulge. The boys are so gullible right now because first Samneric said that they saw it and right now all of the boys are paranoid. So when Ralph, Jack, and Roger go look for the beats they went at night when vision isn't at its best they of course thought it was the beast.

  • I, Simon, think the game the boys played was unnecessary and windy. Yes we all know what happened. Woo-hoo how exciting!! I wish the wall between Jack, Ralph, and Piggy would come down because I think it's eventually going to kill us! Just to think! Now Ralph can see how exciting it is to kill I hope he doesn't become like Jack. Wild and demented.

Chapter Six: Beast From Air

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

  1. The sign that comes down from the grown up world would be the dead aviator (or the beast) that fell from the sky.
  2. The boys aren't aware that the aviator is indeed not a beast is because they have completely forgotten about WWII. So the supernatural is what first comes to mind!
  3. Sam and Eric are so terrified of "the beast" because they saw it with their own two eyes, and they were alone in the dark.
  4. Sam and Eric describe the beast as a monster with wings, claws, and sharp teeth
  5. The attitudes of the boys are quite different. First off Ralph, Simon and Piggy all think it's a good idea to stay near the huts and take care of the littluns, On the other hand Jack and the rest of the boys think that it's a good idea to go and kill the beats right away. Ralph is organized, and plans ahead while Jack reacts on impulse.
  6. I know there really isn't a beast because we know that a war is going on and that the only explanation of the "Beast from Air" would be a pilot or an aviator of a plane.
The reason why I, Piggy, supposedly only have one eye is simple. It actually just means that one of the lenses of my specks broke so I can only see clearly through one eye!

Beast From Water

Lord of the Flies author William Golding admitted trying to rape a 15-year-old girl while an Oxford student

Dear Journal,

Today I called an assembly, because things are going way out of hand on the island. I am chief, but no one listens to me! We had agreed that to make life easier people would go and get the coconuts filled with water so that we don't have to go and get it on our own, wasting precious time. Then the signal fire! Someone (Jack) "forgot" about his job and decided to take the little ones for a hunt. Really there are more important things then hunting! Because of him the signal fire went out right when a ship passes by! We could have been off the island by now. Also now the boys have suddenly decided to relieve themselves near our living quarters and our food. Now everything is going to be infected. After the whole jungle being burned down, and us (we think) losing a boy decided on having the fire ONLY for the signal fire, but of course that isn't the case. Fear is something else we are dealing with. Poor kids are scared out of their mind. All sanity is gone.

All of this is very frustrating to me I am not sure how I feel right now.

Jack, I am sure, desperately wants to be chief, and he is doing a good job of getting people of going on "his side". Everyone is splitting up. Either you are on my side or Jack's side. You are either a hunter or... well I'm not sure what I am. I don't feel like chief. At least I have Piggy and Simon sticking with me. I almost resigned from chieftainship. "What's the point?" I said, but they have more faith in me then I think I'll ever have. Yes they have slightly convinced me to not give up, for us three are the only ones on the island that still have our sanity. If you can say that. Jack and I quarrel now. We were once best friends. Though I'd never admit it, but those memories bring tears to my eyes. There is a great split in my life. How are we to survive when we don't all stick together.

The Littluns cry now at night. They think that a monster lurks somewhere in the forest. What foolishness! Everything is falling apart. What are the grown ups going think of us now? A beastie. Ha! What a joke. Though the thought does start to get to me once in a while.

That Percival Wemys Madison is afraid of the beast from the water!! First the jungle now the water? This is quite ridiculous I have to say.

Someone, oh I can't remember exactly, mentioned something about the dirtiest thing there is about human nature. I have never really thought of that before. Well we humans now that I think of it are quite dirty! We are selfish, greedy, one-minded, boastful, proud ,( That one isn't too bad), violent, ignorant. Wow the list could go on and on.

What's the point in even making decisions now if after I tell them what the new orders are, the conversation just end in a riot! Being chief is not all it turned out to be. It doesn't even feel like I am the chief!

I feel allot older, and less carefree then I was before. I don't feel like a child anymore. At the same time though I do.

-Ralph
